Product Overview

Undercurrent was Bill Evans' first recording after the fatal car accident of his colleagues-bassist Scott LaFaro. For almost a year took the pianist - with the exception of four solos in April 19.0062 - nothing on before he conspired with guitarist Jim Hall to two studio sessions. Evans and Hall formed a tremendously creative duo. Both had their roots in bebop and at the same time representing an introspective style with advanced harmonies. Undercurrent is the result of an intimate cooperation, an almost brotherly chemistry between the two musicians and an excellent selection.

Standards like My Funny Valentine, the Broadway classic Darn That Dream, or Hall-composition Romain gives presents the duo with a well placed mix of hard-bop elements and romantic whisper. A touching experiment for Mobile Fidelity remastered by war Wunderlich. The 140g LP appears in gatefold sleeve with consecutive serial number in limited edition.
