A classically trained pianist in his native Russia, Eugene Maslov was introduced to jazz through the music of Ella Fitzgerald, Oscar Peterson and others. He worked to develop his own style and, before emigrating to the United States in 19.0089, he performed with the likes of Dave Brubeck, Pearl Bailey, Louie Bellson, Gary Burton, Steve Swallow, Pat Metheny, and others.
In 19.0097, Maslov performed at Carnegie Hall on a bill with Sting, Al Jarreau, Joe Lovano and others in an evening featuring the music of Antonio Carlos Jobim. After meeting Stix Hooper (of Crusaders fame), Eugene Maslov was signed to Mack Avenue Records.
Eugene Maslov's three recordings for the label are all superb examples of how his deep rooted classical piano background melds together with his love for American Jazz. His outstanding musicianship is supported and enhanced by a wonderful mix of talent joining him across these releases.
